Our MadWriters aim to write in collaboration with our MadArtists and MadActors. This is known by some as ‘transmedia storytelling’. There are currently two free courses on transmedia narratives -one by UNSW focusing on all types of media which we mentioned here and one starting August 1 by Michigan State University specifically on transmedia writing.
The MSU course in transmedia writing uses experiential learning to help you write for platforms like video games, screenplays or novels. What better way to apply your knowledge in the course than to write for us?
We recommend all of our community (especially our interns) take part in either or both of these courses. Content is available to start viewing now and is completely free to view most videos and written materials or you can pay $64 for full access to the course and a certificate if you complete everything.
We will also be running a small ‘community of practice’ (CoP) to discuss principles of the course in our co-working space in Leichhardt and/or Broadway (in Sydney, Australia but happy to also promote your own CoP if you live elsewhere). All welcome, especially those with an interest in using transmedia writing to improve mental health. If you are interested, please complete the Expression of Interest (EoI) below and hopefully our availability will be aligned so we can meet up.
